Todos los episodios de todas las temporadas abren con el rótulo «Created by David Cantolla, Luis Gallego, Guillermo García». Así consta en los canales oficiales de YouTube en español (15,3 M de suscriptores), inglés (5,26 M) y chino, en subidas que van de hace catorce años a la actualidad.[1][2][3][4][5][6][8] Solo los vídeos citados aquí acumulan más de mil millones de reproducciones; cada tarjeta abre el vídeo oficial en el minuto exacto del rótulo. El rótulo aparece igualmente en la Temporada 4, producida años después de que García Carsí dejara la dirección de la serie,[5][7] y en el largometraje de 2018.[4] En derecho español, el crédito en pantalla constituye presunción legal de autoría (art. 6.1 de la Ley de Propiedad Intelectual).

Every episode of every season opens with the credit “Created by David Cantolla, Luis Gallego, Guillermo García.” This appears on the official YouTube channels in Spanish (15.3M subscribers), English (5.26M) and Chinese, in uploads ranging from fourteen years ago to the present.[1][2][3][4][5][6][8] The videos cited here alone total over one billion views; each card opens the official video at the exact minute of the credit. The credit equally appears in Season 4, produced years after García Carsí left the series' direction,[5][7] and in the 2018 feature film.[4] Under Spanish law, the on-screen credit constitutes a legal presumption of authorship (art. 6.1, Intellectual Property Act).

Los créditos completos de IMDb registran el crédito formal creator para exactamente tres personas: David Cantolla (58 episodios), Luis Gallego (58) y Guillermo Garcia (58); los créditos de dirección de la serie original se reparten, principalmente, entre Cantolla (59 episodios) y García (57).[10][11] El copyright del tema musical consta registrado en Estados Unidos a nombre de los tres.[12] La propia productora, Zinkia Entertainment, declaró por escrito ante el Mercado Alternativo Bursátil español, en 2012, que García Carsí es «one of the three co-authors of the TV character known as Pocoyo» — uno de los tres coautores.[13]

IMDb's full credits register the formal creator credit for exactly three people: David Cantolla (58 episodes), Luis Gallego (58) and Guillermo Garcia (58); directing credits for the original series are shared mainly between Cantolla (59 episodes) and García (57).[10][11] The theme song's copyright is registered in the United States to the three of them.[12] Producer Zinkia Entertainment itself stated in writing before Spain's MAB stock market, in 2012, that García Carsí is “one of the three co-authors of the TV character known as Pocoyo.”[13]

The matter reached the courts: García Carsí sued Zinkia in 2008 — the international press then described him as “one of the three authors”[14] — and Madrid's Commercial Court No. 4, in its ruling of 11 April 2012, dismissed the substance of his claims and declared Zinkia “beyond doubt, the rights-holder of the work Pocoyó.”[15] No public ruling recognises any individual as the sole creator of the work.

The chronology it records: Zinkia is founded in 2001;[17][29] the idea is born when one of the founders watches his two-year-old daughter transfixed by children's television;[17] the visual style that would distinguish the series worldwide is born on Luis Gallego's screen, where he was developing a new global-illumination system with Colman López — “it looked like plasticine but it wasn't… it was what set everything in motion” —, and the entry itself preserves the original test image;[18] the idea is first developed between Luis Gallego and the blog's author, with Guillermo García joining later for concept and character design (“Luis Gallego and I started getting together to develop the idea… I suggested that he should get involved with this project”);[19] and the name “Pocoyo” comes from the “poco yo” David Cantolla's two-year-old daughter said in her bedtime prayer — a fact recorded by the official blog and by Wikipedia.[16][42][43] The blog was fully translated into Japanese by the series' official Japanese blog, which remains online.[21][22]
